Landmark Surveying, LP (Landmark), established in 1994 by Dana Markus-Wolf and Scott Garanflo, is an award winning, local, independent, professional land surveying firm with one office situated one mile east of downtown at 2205 E. 5th Street in Austin, Texas. Dana purchased Scott’s shares in 2006, making Landmark one of the first independent land surveying firms in Texas to be owned in its entirety by a female Registered Professional Land Surveyor. In 2008, Juan M. Canales, Jr. joined the firm, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to his trusted role as Vice President of the General Partner.

Landmark’s Registered Professional Land Surveyors and its managers have over 150 combined years of experience working in the surveying industry. All Landmark Registered Professional Land Surveyors and Survey Technicians are members of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. Owner / President of the General Partner
Ms. Dana Markus-Wolf, RPLS, owner of Landmark Surveying, LP is the President of DamWolf Managers, LLC, General Partner for Landmark Surveying, LP. As President of the General Partner, Dana assures that Landmark Surveying, LP meets its deadlines and goals. She is responsible for policy making, all business and financial decisions, contract negotiations, staffing, quality control, communications, project budgets and schedules. Her 40+ years of field and office experience include management and direction of a wide range of surveying teams and projects throughout Central Texas. Dana holds a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences (Interdisciplinary Management) and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science (Land Surveying). She is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, the National Society of Professional Surveyors and the Austin Independent Business Alliance. She currently serves on the nominating committee for the Capital Area Chapter 13 Surveyors Association.
Juan M. Canales, Jr., R.P.L.S.
VP of the General Partner and Senior Project Manager
Juan M. Canales, Jr., RPLS, is Vice President of the General Partner and Senior Project Manager at Landmark Surveying, LP, with a surveying career spanning over 45 years. Prior to joining Landmark in 2008, Juan was President of Canales, Martinez and Nash, a local surveying firm, for ten years. Juan brings an educational background in General Engineering to the table. Today, Juan manages a wide range of diverse surveying projects for Landmark and its clients. His broad experience includes virtually all aspects of professional land surveying throughout Texas, dealing with city, state, county and private sectors. In addition, he has international experience in Mexico. Juan currently serves on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Survey Cut-Off Score Committee, and is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, Capital Area Chapter 13 Surveyors Association.
Office Manager, Secretary/Treasurer of the General Partner
Shirley Johnson is Secretary/Treasurer of the General Partner as well as Office Manager at Landmark Surveying, LP. She has over four decades of experience in office management and accounting. Prior to joining Landmark in 2006, she owned a catering business for three years, and prior to that, worked as a tax administrator and senior internal accounting clerk for four CPA firms over the course of 23 years. Her prime responsibilities at Landmark include maintaining a well-organized company, payroll management, all insurance and 401k administrative tasks, and business supply procurement and inventory. In addition, she handles opening and closing of job files, invoicing, receivables, and past due collections.
Subdivision and Field Operations Manager
Francisco Maldonado serves as Subdivision and Field Operations Manager at Landmark. He joined the firm in 1995 after working in the field for local surveying businesses and the City of Austin surveying department. His background at Landmark includes managing the survey research division as well as providing technical and AutoCAD drafting of residential surveys. Currently, he oversees multiple field crews and survey technicians to ensure Landmark subdivision standards, production schedules and field procedures are adhered to. Francisco holds an Associate's Degree in Applied Science (Land Surveying), and an Associate's Degree in Science (Mathematics), both from Austin Community College, and is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors.
Eleuterio Leos, Jr.
Assistant Project Manager/Technical Supervisor
Eleuterio Leos, Jr. is Assistant Project Manager/Technical Supervisor at Landmark Surveying, LP. Eleuterio has worked at Landmark since 2010 and has been surveying in the Austin area for 25 years. He has received certificates of completion from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Texas Society of Professional Land Surveyors Surveying I and II: The Short Courses. Prior to joining Landmark, Eleuterio refined his surveying skills as a Senior Survey Technician while employed with the Austin surveying firm of Canales, Martinez, and Nash Surveying Company (CM&N) for ten years. His technical and management experience includes transportation, right-of-way and easement staking, land acquisitions; horizontal and vertical controls for aerial and mobile mapping, GPS, LiDAR processing, boundary delineation, design surveys, topographic and tree surveys, construction staking, environmental soil boring surveys, SUE support, electric/utility transmission mains, floodplain delineation, elevation certificates and airport design topographic surveys. Leos is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, Capital Area Chapter 13 Surveyors Association.
